You want to get married where?

So last night I am glancing through a book I got about destination weddings. (I swear I was doing research for my wedding photography business) ;)

And I come across some interesting information about getting married in France. Now if you know me AT all you know that I am in LOVE with Paris. Between the Eiffel Tower and the romance of Paris, I love it! I would LOVE to photograph a wedding in Paris and capture the romance of a wedding in the city of love.
But I got to reading about it and realized that its not as easy as I thought it might be to get married in a foreign city. Of course everywhere is different but I found France quite interesting. You have to have proof of you living in France for 40 consecutive days!! I mean I would LOVE to live in France for 40 days or longer but to live there before you get married! Crazy!! Also doing more research they don’t view religious ceremonies as legal. So if you want to get married in France you first must go get married at a town hall. Interesting isn’t it??

So I did a little more research on what other crazy things you must do in other places worldwide. I found out that in Brazil you must present your criminal background before you get married there. Good news though, if you want to get married in England you only have to live their for 7 days! 15 if you want to get married in London. (still better then France) Spain you have to live there for 30 days.

But what I thought very interesting is if you want to get married in Boston, yes in the United States, you must first give them a blood test, and then live there a day. I guess they really want to make sure that you are who you say you are!

What about Mexico?? Well each place is different depending on where you want to get married but generally the interesting requirements are; blood tests done in Mexico and also Chest X-ray plates, this must also be done in Mexico. (seriously?!)

How about the popular romantic spot of the United States, Hawaii? Well I didn’t find anything TOO unusual. Except that they do allow you to marry cousins… so if you’ve been looking for a state like that, why not try the tropical Hawaii?

So what is the moral of the story? If you want a destination wedding do your research… even if you ARE going to be staying in the states. Hope you enjoyed this and found it as humorous as I have!

Being Pregnant

2009 September 28

My best friend is pregnant!!  YAY!!! I’m just so excited I’m going to be an Aunt!! I’m already planning the baby shower and what I’m going to be getting my little nephew/niece.

I think pregnancy is an incredible experience… whether its your first or fourth time, the pregnancy is truly different every time. That is why I especially feel this is the time to be getting a portrait session done of your beautiful belly and even beautiful baby.  That is why in honor of my best friend getting pregnant I am going to be offering a sale for either a Maternity Session or a Newborn Session.  So from now until October 31, 09, if you book a maternity or newborn lifestyle session I will double the print credit you get. So instead of just $20 worth of print credit you will get $40 worth of print credit! And if you use this with my 2 for 1 special for the first month your session is online you could have up to $80 dollars of credit! You can really use this to share with friends and family!!

But that isn’t the only sale I’m doing. If you are pregnant and want BOTH sessions done, I am doing the two for one sale. So you will get a maternity AND a newborn session for just the price of one. And I’ll still double your print credit. So instead of two sessions costing $240 both sessions will cost $120 and you will get a $40 print credit.

I’ve NEVER done such a great sale before but I’m SO excited I’m going to be an aunt. And I know there are plenty of soon to be mothers/aunts/uncles/grandparent that want pictures done of the beautiful process of life.

I want to make it clear, all you have to do is book before Oct 31, 09 to get the sale. You don’t have to necessarily be having your baby before then. In fact even if you are just a few months along, book now, because these are great savings!

Isn’t bringing a baby into this world an amazing thing?!?! I love it! And I would love to share your moment with you!

How Valuable is a Second Photographer at your Wedding?

2009 September 22

If you are getting married, you are obviously considering a photographer.  But the question is, are you considering getting a second photographer?  Many photographers, including myself, offer packages that include a second photographer to shoot along side them on your wedding day.

Why would you want a second shooter though?  There are some things that a single photographer just can’t shoot.  Some examples,  typically the bride gets ready at another location then where the ceremony will be held, or from where the groom gets ready.  A second shooter gets to hang out with the groom and groomsmen and capture the guys before they walk down the aisle.

Also for the same reason of the primary photographer being with the bride before and all during ceremony, some details that you have planned and put so much effort in may not be recorded.  A second shooter is able to take pictures of all the details of your special day.  They are there to capture candid, real moments, or even posed, of the guests while the wedding party are doing formals.

One of my favorite reasons though, to have a second photographer is that they are able to capture candid moments of everyone and they are always in a different spot then the main photographer.  This means that they are able to capture different angles and positions of the same important moments of your day.

Yes, a second photographer is worth every penny and I know you would be happy to have someone else shooting with your main photographer.  Now keep in mind this does not mean for you to hire another photographer, rather it means to ask your photographer you are working with now or considering and see if they offer a second photographer with their packages.  Chances are they do.  Also remember that some of my packages include a second photographer, and if you choose a package that doesn’t include it, you can always add it to the package via the a la carte.

So why did I feel the need to blog about this today?  Well I just finish processing a wedding that I was the second photographer on with Brooke from Capture This! by Brooke.  It was in Sedona and a gorgeous wedding.  It was raining that day and fortunately for the bride and groom the rain stopped right before the ceremony was to start.  Of course I didn’t mind the rain, and we were able to get some shots done with the rain and umbrellas.  (Yes, I was in heaven!) :)

Here are some of my favorite shots from that day!  And to see the entire set that I processed please click on my facebook page. Oh and while you’re there add me as a friend too! :)

And while you are browsing this wedding, please notice the details that I was able to capture while the primary wedding photographer was out with Bride and Groom.
